Phoenix Fitness opened in 2001 and has become a well-established fitness centre located in Chard, Somerset. The proprietor, Simon Lunn, has overseen the gym's development from the outset. In 2008 Phoenix Fitness moved to new larger premises, which are located at the bottom of Fore Street.
Phoenix Fitness is a purpose-built gymnasium comprising of two floors: The downstairs, hosting a spacious and bright fitness suite, and a personal training and class studio, and the first floor, which has a fully equipped free weights area. More user-friendly air resistance machines are also available in this area. In addition, Phoenix Fitness has extensive changing and showering facilities.
Here at Phoenix Fitness we cater for everyone, from absolute fitness beginners to regular gym users. Male and female fully qualified personal trainers are on the floor to help motivate and support members with their workouts.
As well as personal training, we also specialise in weight management and can give dietary advice of the highest quality on a one-to-one basis. If you have specific injury rehabilitation requirements, we are here to help you.

Our class timetable changes each week. Members can view and book classes through the BookFit app.
Our weekly classes include:
The Hour of Power (HoP) - A whole body workout with low weight and high repetitions. Ideal for shaping, toning, fat loss and fitness improvement. Ideal for all fitness levels.
Spinning - Cardiovascular workout performed on stationary bikes.
Rebound - Think of a traditional aerobics class performed on mini trampolines (trampettes) and you've got Rebound. The most important part of this workout is that it's fun!
HiitStep - Not your traditional step workout. HiiT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. This involves short bursts of hard work followed by rest all incorporating a step.
Circuits - In this class, you'll find various stations with a range of exercises. Each exercise is performed for a certain amount of time or repetitions and then followed by a short period of rest.
Tabata - Exercises are performed for 20 seconds with maximum effort followed by a 10 second rest. Exercises are own body weight or using a 2.5kg/5kg plate.
Bar-Belles - A female only weights class. Perfect for those new to weights, who want to learn the correct techniques, or those that are fully experienced wanting to train with like minded ladies.
